The Links to host youth symposium

The Alameda-Contra Costa County Chapter of Links Incorporated will host the Respect Yourself Youth Symposium on March 6 at the Samuel Merritt Health Education Center in Oakland.

The theme of the event is “In Pursuit of Healthy Lifestyles,” and the workshop topics will include money management, healthy eating, leadership development and teen law. The goal of the symposium is to teach youth about making healthy decisions and to encourage responsible citizenship.

During the event, Kaiser Permanente will host a performance of “Nightmare of Puberty Street,” which is an age-appropriate, live theatrical performance about four young people on their journey through adolescence.

Approximately 200 at-risk youth from both Alameda and Contra Costa counties are slated to attend.
