Hundreds participate in fifth annual Faith Fancher Breast Cancer Challenge The several hundred local residents who woke up early Saturday morning and gathered near downtown Oakland were there for one reason: Faith. Not the spiritual kind, although some may differ. The women, men and youth who came together took part in the fifth annual Faith Fancher Breast Cancer Challenge around Lake Merritt. The group walkers and runners participated in the 5K event, which annually raises money to support underinsured and uninsured women with breast cancer. Following the walk/run, the participants were treated to a concert by Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir. |
