Globe hosts first Bay Area Juneteenth Victory Awards Gala

 To honor a man whose oratorical skills and passion for others is seldom recognized, as well as to celebrate the freedom of African Americans south of the Mississippi, The Globe Newspaper Group Thursday presented the first Bay Area Juneteenth Victory Awards Gala at the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond.

“The Globe is reaching back to celebrate Juneteenth as a day of victory and reflection and to also celebrate individuals in our community who have touched many lives with their work,” said Globe Associate Publisher and Managing Editor Eleanor Boswell-Raine.

The event benefitted the Hamilton T. Boswell Foundation, honoring the life and legacy of Boswell-Raine’s father, Dr. Hamilton T. Boswell, a former California Assembly chaplain, minister and civic and civil rights advocate.
