Sculptors explore array of
raw emotions in new exhibit

By Sally Douglas Arce

Two Oakland sculptors have combined forces to create a landscape where raw emotions are front and center.

Susan Almazol and Lorraine Bonner depict anguish, surrender, yearning, joy, oppression, tranquility and empathy in their ceramic and mixed media sculptures.

“Landscapes of Our Souls” opens with a reception from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Joyce Gordon Gallery, located at 406 14th St. in Oakland. The exhibit will be on display through June 29. A special event, “Conversations with the Artists,” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 18. The gallery is open from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
