Videos shot from witnesses’ cameras were the most compelling pieces of evidence presented Monday during the first day of the preliminary hearing for Johannes Mehserle, who is charged with murdering Oscar Grant III at the Fruitvale BART station Jan. 1. Outside the courthouse, protestors gathered to voice their concerns with the handling of the shooting. The hearing is expected to last about two weeks.
