Million Mom March chapters hold ‘lie-in’
to protest illegal access to guns

From the Globe Richmond Desk

The Oakland and West Contra Costa Brady (Million Mom March) Chapters held a “lie-in” in Richmond and San Pablo last Tuesday to protest how easy it is for people to get guns illegally.

To recognize the fact that 32 people are murdered every day in the U.S. with guns, 32 participants dressed in black lay down for a few minutes at each site.
Chapter members are supporting AB 1471, the CA Crime Gun Identification Act, which would require that all semiautomatic handguns sold in California use microstamping technology that leaves marks on the spent cartridge casings when the gun is fired. The marks can be used to find out who bought the gun.
The bill could help reduce gun violence and be used to identify illegal gun traffickers who buy guns that are used in crimes.
